Eli Groner, Israel’s minister of economic affairs to the United States, will speak at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Temple Beth Israel, 567 Bay Isles Road, in one of his first public appearances since accepting the position in August.

In his presentation, “Miracle in the Desert: Israel’s Economy,” Groner will address the platforms and policies that have spurred economic success in Israel.

Groner was born in the United States and immigrated to Israel with his family when he was 15. He began his career with the Jerusalem Post as a finance-and-economics correspondent who also oversaw digital content. He went on to serve as a consultant at McKinsey & Co. from 2003 to 2009 and, most recently, as a special advisor to the chairman of Tnuva, one of Israel’s largest food manufacturers and distributors.

The presentation will be followed by a speaker’s reception. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations are suggested. For information, call 383-3428.
