Members of the Longboat Island Chapel and guests were treated to an authentic Cajun dinner for their Mardi Gras celebration Feb. 16. Jerry East, whose roots are in Louisiana, prepared the menu featuring gumbo and king cake.

And, as tradition demands, King Rex made an appearance. It was a surprise when Joan Roecker strutted into the hall wearing a tuxedo and top hat and was dubbed King Rex. East, who handed out gag gifts, served as master of ceremonies for the festive occasion.

During the evening, members gathered around Music Director Russell Kennedy at the piano for a lively songfest.
