It’s a calendar chock full of all the art, entertainment and black tie events happening from October through December. Here’s a few happening this weekend to get you started. 

FUN: 32nd annual Sahib Shrine Circus

When: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4; 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5

Where: Sailor Circus Arena, 2075 Bahia Vista Street

This event presented by Circus Sarasota will feature high-soaring trapeze acts of The Flying Cortes, aerial acrobatics, motorcycle stunts of John Winn, wonder dogs, performing stallions, a trick roper and juggler Gena Shvartsman Cristiani will be fun for the whole family. ART: “Icons of Style: Makers, Models and Images”

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily (Thursday until 8 p.m. with discount admission after 5 p.m.) from Oct. 4 through Jan. 5

Where: The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art, 5401 Bay Shore Road

Cost: Free for members; $25 adults; $20 seniors; $5 student sand children ages 6 to 17; free for children under 5.

Witness the first fashion exhibition at The Ringling, and experience fashion from the inception of the idea through its fully realized form. See the haute couture first-hand with designs and dresses from Karl Lagerfield for chanel, Christain Lacroix and John Galliano for Dior. ART: The Skeletons of Bone Valley

When: Opening reception 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4. Runs through Oct. 28.

Where: Manatee County Cultural Alliance, 926 12th Street W., Bradenton.

Bradenton-based photographer Matt Allison curated this hip and inspiring showcase of landscape and still life photography of Bone Valley, or Florida’s phosphate country. In this exhibit, you’ll see visually striking photography of abandoned Cracker homes left to become part of the landscape and a 5-foot long, surreal looking waterfront setting focused on a perimeter of pink trees, to name a few examples of work. It will feature six area photographer’s work including Allison himself, Virginia Hoffman, Brian Braun, Richard Porter, DaleAnn Clancy and Bill Camarota.

ART: “Season of Color” at Dabbert Gallery (First Friday Art Walk)

When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday; 6 to 9 p.m. at first Friday gallery walks from Oct. 4 through Nov. 29. Opening 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4.

Where: Dabbert Gallery, 76 South Palm Avenue.

If you haven’t experienced a Palm Avenue first Friday art walk, now’s a great time. There are gallery openings such as this one featuring nine Dabbert Gallery artists — such as James Griffin, Robert Baxter, Barbara Krupp and Craig Rubadoux, to name a few —  exploring the power of color as a compelling emotional force. There’s also dining, antiques, specialty shops and live performances. This Friday’s theme is “An Evening of Classics.”

MUSIC: The Beethoven Cycle: Ariel String Quartet

When: 6:30 p.m. conversation; 7 p.m. concert Friday, Oct. 4

Where: Selby Auditorium at USF Sarasota-Manatee, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

Ariel String Quartet will tackle a project that’s never been done before in Sarasota — playing all of Beethoven’s works for string quartets. This is the second of six concerts that will take place between October 4 and May 16 as part of the Perlman Music Program/ Suncoast’s Emerging Artists series. The Ariel Quartet are alumni of PMP and PMP/Suncoast celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The Observer’s own June LeBell will give a Musical Conversation about the series at 6:30 p.m.

MUSIC: Artist Series Concerts presents Sahun Hong, Piano

When: 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7

Where: Weisenborne/Fisher residence.

Not even 20-years-old, pianist Sahun Hong has won many prestigious awards and prizes and has been featured on NPR's "From the Top." He was born in Seoul, Korea, has studied piano since the age of 4, and is currently a student at The Peabody School. He’ll give two performances in Sarasota as part of the Artist Series Concerts of Sarasota.

MUSIC: Marie Selby Music Series: First Brass “Red, White and Brass: American Salute”

When: 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 6.

Where: Marie Selby

Cost: Admission is $5.

Marie Selby Botanical Garden rings in the start of season with its annual October music series. Experience the beautiful flora and fauna of the gardens accompanied by a patriotic soundtrack of First Brass. Admission is reduced for these concerts, and there’s a variety of food and drink available for purchase. Bring a chair or a picnic blanket and enjoy a great close to a weekend. There will be concerts every Sunday in October.
