Homeless man arrested for murder

U.S. Marshals arrested Kevin L. Peterson, a 19-year-old homeless man, at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, for the murder of Jovonne R. Corn. 

Sarasota Police found 23-year-old Corn in an open field in Newton, March 14. Sarasota Police detectives continue to interview Peterson, who will be booked into the Sarasota County Jail, according to a news release.

Tips from the community helped detectives identify Peterson as a suspect, and Sarasota Police encourage anyone with further information about the case to contact Det. Dan Riley at 954-7062.
