After Sarasota County Animal Services rescued 263 dogs that were being hoarded in a home in Venice, the Gulf Coast Community Foundation is stepping in to help support the organizations that helped take in and care for the animals.

Gulf Coast announced that it would match every donation up to $21,900 through its web site to support the animal shelters caring for the rescued dogs. Fundraising proceeds will be distributed to participating shelters that are 501(c)(3) charities.

The organizations that have taken in the dogs include Almost Home, Florida Little Dog Rescue, Honor Sanctuary, Canine Castaways, Safe Haven, Suncoast Humane Society, Underdog Rescue, Florida Poodle Rescue, VIP Rescue, Kickapoo Rescue, Certified Preowned Dogs, Bay Road Animal Hospital and Ashton Animal Clinic.

Gulf Coast has currently raised 27% of this $21,900 goal, and those interested in donating are asked to visit https://www.gulfcoastgives.org/projects/741.
