Salt of the Earth USA will host a 9/11 Victims and Fallen Military Heroes Memorial Golf Outing fundraiser at 1 p.m. May 20, at the Legacy Golf Club in Lakewood Ranch, to raise funding for the construction of the 9/11 Victims of Fallen Military Heroes Memorial at Patriots Park in Venice.

The effort is being spearheaded by Lakewood Ranch resident Gene Sweeney. Sweeney said the Gulf Coast Community Foundation has pledged $34,000 toward the cause — about half the total cost of the project.

For the tournament, a cost of $400 per foursome or $100 per individual includes practice range balls, a golf cart, a round of golf and a bag of goodies. Local restaurant Ed’s Tavern will provide beer, a clam bake and shrimp boil, as well as hot dogs and hamburgers after golfing at no additional cost to golfers.

There will be prizes for first, second and third place, as well as raffle tickets and more. Interested individuals can sign up at Ed’s Tavern on Lakewood Ranch Main Street or call 907-0400.
