Gayler chosen as interim superintendent

Members of the Manatee County School Board have selected David Gayler, a former assistant superintendent of Manatee County Schools, as their interim superintendent of choice.

He will be contacted this week about starting the position.

Bob Gagnon, who is filling the role on an interim basis, will continue until Gayler can start, likely in early October.

Gayler led Charlotte County Schools for the eight years prior to his retirement, and during that time oversaw schools when Hurricane Charlie hit in 2004.
