Longboat Key Vice Mayor and District 3 Commissioner Terry Gans has qualified to run as a candidate for his seat.

Town Clerk Trish Granger informed Gans in an email Tuesday that her office received notification from the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Office that Gans’ petitions are certified and he’s the second official candidate to qualify for the March election.

Country Club Shores resident Armando Linde qualified for the District 1 seat Oct. 14. District 1 Commissioner Lynn Larson is departing in March after serving three-consecutive two-year terms. Term limit requirements prevent Larson from funning for the term.

Other seats up for election next near is District 5 Commissioner Pat Zunz’ seat and at-large Commissioner Irwin Pastor’s seat.

Zunz won’t run for another term and her husband, Ed, is filing paperwork to qualify for her commission seat.

Pastor hasn’t made his plans known yet.
