Robert Servian, the husband of former Mayor Mary Anne Servian, has been reported missing. Foul play is being investigated.

Servian, 61, was last seen April 1, during a traffic stop in Virginia. The state trooper who pulled him over said Servian did not appear to be in any distress.

Mary Anne Servian reported him missing the next day.

She said her husband left Sarasota March 30 or March 31 to visit one of his children — one lives in West Virginia, and one lives in Pennsylvania. He never made it to either child’s home.

It wasn’t until a month later, May 3, that Servian’s car was found in a hotel parking lot in Rutland, Vt. Hotel staff said the 2010 white Honda Accord had been there for a few weeks, but Servian was not a registered guest.

Mary Anne Servian said there was blood in the car and that it matched her husband’s DNA.

Servian is a hiking enthusiast, and his car was near the Appalachian Trail, but Mary Anne Servian said she doubts her husband went hiking, because there had been heavy snow in that area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota Police Department at 954-7070 or Vermont State Police at 802-773-9101.
