The 29th annual Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key St. Jude Gourmet luncheon and raffle took place from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday in the parking area of Temple Beth Israel.

More than 20 restaurants participated in the event. With so many restaurants donating their time, there was plenty of food to go around. Some of the dishes included seafood paella, cannoli, cottage pie, tofu wraps and gazpacho.

Roni, of Music by Roni, entertained the crowd with his music while people wandered around with friends and tried out as many dishes as they could.

Many of the people in attendance also took part in the 50/50 raffle, the silent Chinese auction and the big raffle for a new 2010 Ford Fusion or $20,000. There were also consolation raffle prizes, which included a weekend at the Longboat Key Club Resort, “Weekend with Harry Potter” and a one-week stay at a Resorts International property.

The proceeds from the luncheon benefited St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the proceeds from the car raffle benefited the Longboat Key Kiwanis Foundation.
