The Sarasota County Fire Department extinguished a fire in unit 202 of the central property at Peppertree Bay just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9.

Smoke; however. lingered on the second, third, and fourth floors more than two hours afterward.

Firefighters evacuated residents and tenants that could be safely transported to the Siesta Key property’s clubhouse while they secured the building, and there were no injuries, according to Assistant Chief of Operations Mike Regnier.

At least 11 fire trucks and two ambulances responded to the scene, which caused a traffic slowdown on the 6000 block of Midnight Pass Road.
