Finance Department changes are coming

Town Manager Dave Bullock and Finance Director Sue Smith are reorganizing the Finance Department.

The Longboat Key Town Commission agreed with a request by Bullock at its May 18 regular workshop to fund a purchasing manager position and a part-time finance position to perform non-purchasing functions.

A budget transfer of $19,944 will come before the commission at its June 2 regular meeting to supplement wages and benefits needed for the positions.

The move was made, Bullock said, because the department is handling a high volume of purchasing matters and overseeing a lot of contracts for upcoming projects. The resignation of a financial specialist employee, which handled purchasing and other duties, allowed the town to reorganize the department.
