Longboat Key Fire Rescue firefighter paramedic David Kyle has announced that 10,000 File of Life magnets are in the hands of the firefighter department and will be distributed to residents.

The magnets are meant for refrigerator doors.

In times of emergency, firefighter paramedics can look to the refrigerator for critical information about a patient, including allergies, past medical history and a list of medications a patient is taking.

The commission reached a consensus in April to give the volunteer fire department $10,000 to purchase the magnets for residents Key-wide.

For your homeowner or condominium association to receive your magnets, send an e-mail to Kyle at [email protected], and tell him how many magnets your association needs.

Kyle will respond with a time that the magnets can be picked up at the Longboat Key North Fire Station, 5490 Gulf of Mexico Drive.
