FHP investigates hit-and-run on Siesta Key

The Florida Highway Patrol has asked the public for any information after a bicyclist was struck by an unknown vehicle on the Stickney Point Bridge Monday.

Emergency personnel transported a 32-year-old man to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with serious injuries following a hit-and-run on Siesta Key Monday evening.

After 5 p.m., a dark-colored pick-up truck drove onto the sidewalk on the Stickney Point Bridge and struck Robert Purser, who was riding a bicycle eastbound, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report. The vehicle kept driving east after the incident.

There were not witnesses to the incident, but FHP has asked for anyone with information to contact trooper Peter Delcos at 941-492-5850.
