As part of an effort to slow traffic within the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office this week began patrolling the community with off-duty officers.

Lakewood Ranch Community Development Districts 2 and 5, which have contracted with the sheriff's office for the service, had been waiting on Manatee County to sign off on new street signage so that patrolling could begin.
