Have you been waiting all summer for those juicy strawberries or succulent tomatoes? East County farms are opening back up for their u-pick seasons.

O’Brien Family Farms opened Wednesday, Nov. 4. The u-pick farm is open Wednesday through Sunday.

“We have a few strawberries, but it will get better in next few weeks,” said Leanne O’Brien.

Their u-pick selection includes spinach and lettuce now, and the selection will grow as other vegetables come online. The farm stand offers pre-picked peppers, squash, strawberries and other items.

Hunsader Farms opened its u-pick fields at the beginning of November. The farm’s popular tomatoes won’t be ready until later this

month, but visitors can still select their own peppers, eggplant purple hulls and black-eyed peas. Other produce items are available in the Farmer Market stand.
