With more hungry houseguests to care for, Nate's Honor Animal Rescue is in need of more donations.

Two days ago, the local shelter admitted 16 Great Dane, Labradors and a pit bull from Desoto County Animal Services. Law enforcement officials confiscated the animals from a breeder in Arcadia recently and now the animals are being housed in East County until the owner sings the animal over, or the rescue gets other notice that it can adopt out the dogs.

The rescue is asking for the following donations: wet puppy food; bleach; paper towels; extra large dog beds; comforters; towels and large dog toys.

Monetary donations to fund veterinary bills are also needed.

None of the dogs are available for adoption, yet, because the animals are considered evidence and the owner hasn't relinquished his or her rights to the animals.

Honor volunteers and employees are working to get the animals settled in to the rescue and are evaluating the dogs for medical needs.

For more information or to donate, call 747-4900.
