East County man dies in home invasion

An East County man was killed during a home invasion early Saturday morning.

Manatee County Sheriff's deputies answered a call at 1608 Zipperer Road at 1 a.m. Saturday and found that Dwayne Larry Hutchinson, 55, had been killed during a home invasion. He was found dead in an upstairs bedroom.

Although the Sheriff's Office didn't release cause of death, it reported Hutchinson's injuries received trauma consistent with a homicide.

The report stated that deputies were summoned to the residence after a report of a burglary in progress. They found Melissa Mae Hutchinson, 46, downstairs in the residence.  She told deputies two males had entered the home, accosted her and then went upstairs. Melissa Mae Hutchinson was transported to a hospital where she was treated and released.

The Sheriff's Office does not believe the incident to be a random act of violence. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
