East County High 5 Moments: 04.28.16

1 — Lakewood Ranch junior Mackenzie Meyer celebrated her 17th birthday with a three-run homer and a double to lead the Mustangs to a 5-1 victory over Tarpon Springs East Lake in the Class 8A-Region 2 quarterfinals April 20. 

2 — Lakewood Ranch junior Sophia Falco captured district titles in the long jump, triple jump and 200-meter dash at the Class 4A-District 8 meet April 20. 

3 — Braden River junior Ali Yawn pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to lift the Pirates to a 5-3 victory over New Port Richey Mitchell in a Class 7A-Region 3 quarterfinal April 20. 

4 — The Out-of-Door Academy junior Sofia Gardinier captured the 400-meter dash in 59.70 seconds, at the Class 1A-District 7 meet April 21. 

5 — Alicia Wagner, a 2015 graduate of Lakewood Ranch High, went 3-for-3 at the plate to help lead McDaniel College to a 9-5 victory against Eastern Mennonite April 24.
