East County company partners with Mariano Rivera on LED ball

Evolucia, a Lakewood Ranch-based LED lighting company, has partnered with legendary New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera on a new baseball.

The commemorative baseball is embedded with Evolucia LED lights that glow navy blue. 

The baseball, retailed for $59.99, has Rivera's autograph, uniform number and career stats written on it.

Proceeds will benefit the Mariano Rivera foundation, which gives to educational organizations for underprivleged children.

The balls are being sold through Steiner Sports Marketing & Memorabillia.

Rivera, MLB's all-time saves leader who plans to retire at the end of this year, is an Evolucia shareholder. 

Evolucia, an LED lighting company, recently moved from an 18,000-square-foot home off Fruitville Road to the 61,000-square-foot former home of Gemesis in Lakewood Ranch Corporate Park.
