Early voting concludes on Longboat

Early voting for all Longboat Key registered voters concluded Sunday, March 13, and 623 voters taking advantage of the town’s early voting session.

In Manatee County, 211 registered voters took advantage of early voting. In Sarasota County, 412 registered voters cast a ballot early.

Longboat Key registered voters are facing two ballot questions on the ballot.

The town’s residents will be voting on a referendum question, seeking voter approval for a $16 million beach project, which includes the construction of erosion control structures on the north end of the island. The project cost also includes placing sand along the north end and other high erosion areas island-wide.

Also on the ballot is a town charter amendment question, which asks voters to clarify what is considered a partial term for commissioners.

Tomorrow, Sarasota County registered voters will vote at Town Hall, while Manatee County voters must cast a ballot at Longboat Island Chapel, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 15.
