Driver strikes, kills two pedestrians

Two Sarasota men are dead after being struck by an oncoming vehicle in the early morning hours of Aug. 14.

According to Florida Highway Patrol report, Myakka City resident Austin M. Burnett, 18, was driving eastbound on State Road 70 around 3:25 a.m. when his vehicle collided with Antonio Trabal, 19, and Richard Keith Blanding, 23, who were walking eastbound in the roadway.

Both individuals were pronounced dead on scene.

The report states there were no streetlights in the area.
