Some residents in the area of Orange Avenue and Alta Vista Street were rattled last night after hearing a loud crashing noise.

They awoke this morning to find a new electrical pole had replaced one that was broken in half on the ground.

Shortly after 9 p.m., a woman slammed her car into the concrete power pole on Orange Avenue between Alta Vista and Bay Point Drive.

The driver, 25-year-old Dayleane Babyak, was not seriously hurt in the crash. She was charged with DUI after she refused a breath test.

Officers did not attempt a field sobriety test because the power lines were down on the ground.
