Detours begin today for S.R. 64, 70

Several East County roads will have detours during the next several weeks as the Florida Department of Transportation continues its resurfacing project of Interstate 75.

I-75: From S.R. 70 to the Kay Road Overpass Construction project — This project consists of milling and resurfacing the roadway, shoulder treatment, guardrail, traffic monitoring and signing & paving marking.

In addition, improvements are also being made to I-75 entry and exit ramps at State Road 64 and State Road 70. To complete these improvements, ramp closures at these interchanges will be necessary. Detours will be set up at these two interstate interchanges, as well as at the University Parkway interstate interchange. Weather permitting, ramp closures are scheduled to begin July 27 and continue through Aug. 3. However, there will be no ramp closures on Saturday, August 1st, 2009.

Closures are scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. each night and last until 5 a.m. each morning. Motorists will be directed to follow the suggested detour routes. Below is the current schedule for the anticipated I-75 entry and exit ramp closures.

July 27 Closures
Northbound I-75 exit ramp (Exit 217B) to westbound S.R. 70
Motorists on northbound I-75 wishing to travel westbound on S.R. 70 are advised to use the S.R. 70 eastbound exit (Exit 217A), travel east to make a U-turn at the intersection of 87th Street East and then continue westbound on S.R. 70.

Southbound I-75 entry ramp from westbound S.R. 70
Motorists on westbound S.R. 70 wishing to travel southbound on I-75 are advised to continue traveling west on S.R. 70 to make a U-turn at the intersection of Tara Boulevard/Creekwood Boulevard, head east on S.R. 70 and enter the other I-75 southbound entry ramp.

July 28 Closures
Northbound I-75 exit ramp (Exit 220A) to eastbound S.R. 64
Motorists on northbound I-75 wishing to travel eastbound on S.R. 64 are advised to travel north on I-75 to the S.R. 64 westbound exit ramp (Exit 220B), travel west to make a U-turn at the intersection of 64th Street Court East/66th Street Court East and then continue eastbound on S.R. 64.

Northbound I-75 entry ramp from east and westbound S.R. 70
From westbound S.R. 70: Motorists on westbound S.R. 70 wishing to travel northbound on I-75 are advised to continue west on S.R. 70 and enter I-75 at the southbound I-75 entry ramp, travel south on I-75 and exit at the University Parkway exit (Exit 213), travel west on University to make a U-turn at the intersection of North Cattlemen Road/Cooper Creek Blvd., then travel east on University and turn onto the I-75 northbound entry ramp and continue north on I-75.

From eastbound S.R. 70: Motorists on eastbound S.R. 70 wishing to travel northbound on I-75 are advised to enter I-75 at the southbound I-75 entry ramp, travel south on I-75 and exit at the University Parkway exit (Exit 213), travel east on University and turn onto the I-75 northbound entry ramp and continue north on I-75.

July 29 Closures
Northbound I-75 exit ramp (Exit 220B) to westbound S.R. 64
Motorists on northbound I-75 wishing to travel westbound on S.R. 64 are advised to use the S.R. 64 eastbound exit (Exit 220A), travel east to make a U-turn at the intersection of Grand Harbour Parkway and then continue westbound on S.R. 64.

Northbound I-75 entry ramp from east and westbound S.R. 64
From westbound S.R. 64: Motorists on westbound S.R. 64 wishing to travel northbound on I-75 are advised to continue west on S.R. 64 and enter I-75 at the southbound I-75 entry ramp, travel south on I-75 and exit at the S.R. 70 exit (Exit 217), turn east on S.R. 70 to enter the northbound I-75 entry ramp and continue north on I-75.

From eastbound S.R. 64: Motorists on eastbound S.R. 64 wishing to travel northbound on I-75 are advised to enter I-75 at the southbound I-75 entry ramp, travel south and exit at the S.R. 70 exit (Exit 217), turn east on S.R. 70 and enter the northbound I-75 entry ramp and continue north on I-75.

July 30 Closures
Northbound I-75 entry ramp from east and westbound S.R. 64
From westbound S.R. 64: Motorists on westbound S.R. 64 wishing to travel northbound on I-75 are advised to continue west on S.R. 64 and enter I-75 at the southbound I-75 entry ramp, travel south on I-75 and exit at the S.R. 70 exit (Exit 217), turn east on S.R. 70 to enter the northbound I-75 entry ramp and continue north on I-75.

From eastbound S.R. 64: Motorists on eastbound S.R. 64 wishing to travel northbound on I-75 are advised to enter I-75 at the southbound I-75 entry ramp, travel south and exit at the S.R. 70 exit (Exit 217), turn east on S.R. 70 and enter the northbound I-75 entry ramp and continue north on I-75.

July 31 Closures
Southbound I-75 entry ramp from eastbound S.R. 64
Motorists on eastbound S.R. 64 wishing to travel southbound on I-75 are advised to continue traveling east on S.R. 64 to make a U-turn at the intersection of Grand Harbour Parkway, head west on S.R. 64 and enter the other I-75 southbound entry ramp.

Aug. 3 Closures
Southbound I-75 (Exit 220) exit ramp to eastbound and westbound S.R. 64
To eastbound S.R. 64: Motorists on southbound I-75 wishing to travel eastbound on S.R. 64 are advised to continue south on I-75 and exit at the S.R. 70 exit (Exit 217), travel east on S.R. 70 and enter the northbound I-75 entry ramp, continue north on I-75 and exit at the S.R. 64 eastbound exit (Exit 220A) and continue east on S.R. 64.

To westbound S.R. 64: Motorists on southbound I-75 wishing to travel westbound on S.R. 64 are advised to continue south on I-75 and exit at the S.R. 70 exit (Exit 217), travel east and enter the northbound I-75 entry ramp, continue north on I-75 and exit at the S.R. 64 eastbound exit (Exit 220A), travel east to make a U-turn at the intersection of Grand Harbour Parkway and continue west on S.R. 64
