A Sarasota man stole an American flag from a bar and several firearms from a gun store on Bee Ridge Road early Saturday morning, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office news release.

The Sheriff's Office charged 24-year-old Colten Walker-Schmoyer with one count each of armed burglary and burglary for the two crimes, after a patrol deputy located him at the intersection of Lalani Boulevard and Aloha Drive Sunday.

Walker-Schmoyer, who had wounds from broken glass, admitted to breaking into High Noon Guns and stealing weapons, which were recovered from his home on the 4000 block of Cochise Terrace. Walker-Schmoyer is also suspected of attempting to pry a television from a wall at Evie's Tavern on the Range, and stealing an American flag from the location. The flag was also recovered.
