Manatee County is looking for history-lovers to dive in and help judge this year’s Manatee County History Fair.

The fair is part of a nationwide contest designed to encourage a love of history. Hundreds of students in sixth through 12th grades will be using newspapers, diaries, photographs and other resources to present a topic using this year’s theme, “Debate and Diplomacy in History: Success, Failures, Consequence."

The Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court’s Historical Resources Department and the Manatee County Historical Commission, fair sponsors, will offer training for judges from noon to 1 p.m., or 6-7 p.m., Oct. 19, at the Manatee Village Historical Park, 1404 Manatee Ave. E., Bradenton. Other arrangements will be made for individuals who cannot make the training workshops.

No prior experience is necessary.

For an application and schedule of judging information, contact Phaedra Rehorn at 741-4075 or [email protected].
