Sarasota County commissioners are expected to authorize Tuesday the purchase of a Ringling Boulevard property so it can be transformed into a park.
Ruth Ott has owned the home at 2525 Ringling Blvd. since 1966, but now that she’s widowed, the 3,000-square-foot, four bedroom home is too large for her to care for by herself.
She has agreed to sell her property to the county for $206,450.
The 0.39-acre site sits at the intersection of Ringling Boulevard, Main Street and South Jefferson Street.
It has consistently been at the top of City Hall’s list of properties identified for parkland acquisition.
