County to modify Ranch intersection

Manatee County will make some modifications at the intersection of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and State Road 70 to help correct a concern raised by Lakewood Ranch CDD 1 supervisors at the last supervisors meeting.

Supervisors had complained the intersection was dangerous for motorists heading southbound on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard because it appeared the lanes were not properly aligned.

The county’s Transportation Systems Manager Harry Mendenhall said a field observation shows the offset is more of an optical illusion than an actual lane misalignment.

Mendenhall said the county will repaint the median nose curbing on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard south of State Road 70, and it will relocate the existing “Keep Right” sign within the same median nose to see if it corrects the problem.
