Charles Hines, the newest member of the Sarasota County Commission, will lead commission meetings beginning Jan. 1.
Felllow commissioners voted unanimously during a Dec. 5 retreat, for Hines as chairman of the County Commission with Christine Robinson as vice chairwoman. Both are south county commissioners.
Carolyn Mason previously held the position of chairwoman in 2013, and Robinson the year before that.
