March 28
SWEET TOOTH
12:48 a.m. — 5200 block of Ocean Boulevard.
Retail Theft. A convenience store clerk called deputies to report a teenage shoplifter. Deputies found the teenager later that night, with candy bars, a sandwich and a liter of cola, which the clerk had reported stolen.

March 30
BAD VIBES
10:38 a.m. — 1500 block of Main Street.
Disturbance. A woman reported a man in baggy jeans being loud and harassing customers in front of a metaphysical boutique. Officers could not locate the man.

GONE WITH THE RING
2:30 p.m. — 900 Beach Road. Grand Theft. A woman decided to go for a swim at the beach and left her ring in her bag. When she returned the ring was missing. She did not see anyone suspicious hanging around her things.

March 31
CHEAP EATS
6:35 p.m. — 3300 block of N. Tamiami Trail.
Petit Theft. A cashier saw a woman stuffing items into her pants at a discount grocery store. When the cashier asked the woman what she had, the suspect lifted up her shirt and said she didn’t take anything. The cashier spotted a bag of chips and Lunchable valued at $3.

CADDY CORNERED
10:23 p.m. — 4000 block of Higel Avenue. Disturbance. A motorcyclist swerved recklessly and nearly drove a Cadillac off the road. The driver of the Cadillac convinced the motorcyclist to pull over. When deputies arrived, they noted it was clear that the motorcyclist was intoxicated.

April 1
FIVE-FINGER DISCOUNT
8 a.m. — 2400 block of Main Street.
Motor Vehicle Theft. A man advertising his scooter for sale on his property reported it missing to police. He turned in the “for sale” sign to be processed for evidence.

BUSH LEAGUE
8:45 a.m. — 2100 block of Main Street.
Trespass After Warning. A property owner had officers bar a man from his property. Police found the man sleeping in shrubs near the property later.

MESSY TEXTS
2:55 p.m. — 2500 block of Ringling Boulevard. Dispute. A woman received an angry text message from her roommate after telling him their landlord ordered them to take care of their property. She was fearful she would face eviction because of his messy room.

April 2
THE OMEN
11:45 a.m. — 500 block of S. Orange Avenue.
Suspicious Person. A man walked into an optometrist’s office and asked for an appointment. When the woman working at the front desk told him there were no appointments available, the man said, “You’ll see, your fate will be determined.”

April 3
SLOW TO THE CHASE
10:50 p.m. — 900 block of Beach Road.
Possession of Cannabis. An underage man dropped a red cup filled with beer as a deputy approached to investigate. When the officer attempted to question him, the man ran. Deputies took him to the ground after he made it 10 feet, and discovered marijuana in his pocket.
