APRIL 23
DENT IN THE WALLET
1:30 p.m. — 3500 block of South Tamiami Trail.
Civil Disturbance. A woman told police she paid a man $600 after he approached her in a parking lot with the offer to fix her car. She said the man didn’t fix the dents correctly, and he won’t return her phone calls now. Police advised she would have to take up the matter in court.

MARCO? POLO?
1:44 p.m. — 3500 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. Two women who were caught trying to steal Polo shirts in a department store were trespassed from the mall.

SECOND TIME’S A CHARM
4:30 p.m. — 2100 block of Sixth Street. Civil Disturbance. A woman told police her landlord changed her locks because she was $1,500 behind on her rent. The landlord came to the scene and denied changing the locks. The woman tried her keys again and discovered they worked this time.

April 24
Trespassing trouble
6:42 a.m. — 1600 block of Main Street.
Trespassing. A homeless person was told to stay off church property.

BAGGED THE EVIDENCE?
8:41 p.m. — 4000 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Circumstance. Police responded to a report of two men selling drugs in an electronic store parking lot. Police found the men, who had store bags in their hands but no drugs on them.

Wrong pedal
9:15 a.m. — Intersection of State Road 798 and Bird Key Drive. Vehicle Crash. Two cars were driving eastbound on State Road 789 when the light turned red at Bird Key Drive. A woman driving a Mercedes Benz sport utility vehicle crashed into the back of a Dodge pickup truck when the driver of the truck hit the brakes to stop at the light. The woman said she accelerated instead of braking.

MUSICAL CHAIRS
9:18 a.m. — 1700 block of Morrill Street. Civil Disturbance. A motel employee reported a man took the plastic patio furniture set from the motel room he was renting and took it across the street to the new place he started renting. A longstanding dispute about the plastic pieces has been ongoing for months, and police advised the two men might have to resolve the matter in court.

ABANDONMENT ISSUE
11:08 a.m. — 100 block of Golden Gate Point. Abandoned Autos. A parking-enforcement officer ran the tag of a car on Golden Gate Point, and it came back as an abandoned vehicle. Police made arrangements for the car to be towed.

FOREIGN CURRENCY
3:30 p.m. — 1800 block of Ringling Boulevard. Suspicious Circumstance. A man told police his bank notified him there was an attempt made to transfer $64,000 from his account to an account in Malaysia. The bank didn’t honor the request and sent the request to its fraud department.

NOT VERY NEIGHBORLY
6:33 p.m. — 1600 block of Fifth Street. Dispute. A woman reported trash and a bottle rocket she found in her backyard. Roommates at a nearby apartment are suspected of dumping the trash there.

NOT HOME SWEET HOME
10:25 p.m. — 1300 block of Fruitville Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A man found sleeping on the porch of someone’s home was trespassed from the property.

APRIL 25
HOLY GROUND
6:35 a.m. — 1200 block of Central Avenue.
Trespassing. A homeless man was given one more warning and told not to fall asleep on church property in the future.

Beggar begs off
8:09 a.m. — 1800 block of South Tamiami Trail. Family Dispute. A gas station clerk told police she’s upset with a woman who frequents the gas station to beg for money. The woman left when she saw the clerk pick up the phone to report her behavior.

CUJO SIGHTING?
10:36 a.m. — 1400 block of 18th Street. Animal Nuisance. A woman told police that almost every day, a dog shows up in her yard and growls at her before running away. She’s afraid the dog might hurt someone. She promised to call back when she saw the dog in the area.

Mall madness
1:56 p.m. — 3500 block of South Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Person. A mall security guard said a customer was walking up and down the main walkway of a store while yelling. The security guard said the woman was crying and appeared to be drunk. Security kept her occupied until police arrived. Her parents came to pick her up.

Criminal Mischief. Someone painted the phrase “RESN8” on the back of a business.
