July 9
TURN YOUR STAGGER OFF
2:50 p.m. — 5200 block of Ocean Boulevard.
Open Container. Police responded to a reported disturbance and found a man staggering on a sidewalk with a 16-ounce container of beer in his hand. A deputy investigating the situation found the can to be half-full and detected the smell of alcohol coming from the man. Further investigation uncovered four cold cans of another brand of beer near where the man was standing.

July 12
IMPROMPTU NAPTIME
3:13 a.m. — 5900 block of Midnight Pass Road.
Suspicious Person. Deputies responded to the report of an unconscious man near a roadway. Officers found the man, who smelled like alcohol, face-down on a sidewalk. He did not have any injuries, and emergency-medical technicians said his vitals were normal. He was transported to the hospital for further testing.

ALL THIS FRAUD’S MAKING ME HUNGRY
11 a.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Conspiracy to Commit Fraud. A couple reported that the trunk of their rental car was pried open while they were on the beach and $2,300 in cash and two credit cards were taken. Police did not find any fingerprints on the vehicle. But, they analyzed the victims’ bank statements and found fraudulent charges of $652 from a marine-supplies store, $802 from an electronics store, $1,364 from a department store and $15.18 from a fast food restaurant. All of the illegal charges occurred within four hours of the couple’s discovery.

THIS ONE’S NOT ON ME
12:30 p.m. — 100 block of Beach Road. Burglary. An unknown person used a small, hard object to puncture the keyhole of a vehicle parked near Beach Access 5. The car owner told police the thief took $500 in cash and three credit cards from his wallet. He did not notice the missing items until he tried to pay for lunch.

PEE-WEE’S NIGHTMARE
5:15 P.M. — 5900 block of Midnight Pass Road. Petite Theft. A woman reported that her red Schwinn bicycle was stolen from her residence. The bicycle was not secured, and police have taken no further action.

HUNGRY MAN
9:55 p.m. — 5200 block of Ocean Boulevard. Trespassing After Warning. A bar manager flagged down police to report a man, who had a trespassing warrant after being ejected from the bar one year earlier, was eating in the establishment. An officer transported the man, who was reportedly intoxicated, to jail. During the ride, the man apologized profusely for being at the bar.
