JUNE 22

THE WHEEL DEAL
4:48 p.m. — Intersection of Broadway and Palm Drive
Disturbance: A Bradenton Beach man followed a man on a motorcycle into Longbeach Village and told police he was driving recklessly and “popping wheelies" on Anna Maria Island. She also said he blared his horn on Longboat Pass Bridge trying to intimidate the driver in front of him. She was warned not to follow or confront drivers, and the motorcyclist was warned to change his driving habits.

JUNE 24

LATE NIGHT PICKUP
12:44 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Traffic Violation: A woman who kept turning onto side streets whenever a patrol car pulled behind her was pulled over. She told police she had three glasses of wine three hours prior to driving and was nervous. She seemed confused, and her husband agreed to pick her up and retrieve her car in the morning.

IT’S NOT YOUR BEACH
11:21 a.m. — 5300 block of GMD
Disturbance: A resort manager reported a complaint from the property's next-door neighbor who keeps yelling at resort guests standing on the beach behind his home. The neighbor tells the beachgoers they are trespassing on his beach behind his house. However, the beach is public property. Police couldn’t locate the neighbor to inform him he can’t remove people from the beach.

JUNE 25

FISHY FLAGPOLE SCAM
1:37 p.m. — 2300 block of GMD
Fraud: A condominium property manager told police he received a $235 bill for repairs to a flagpole out front that he didn’t authorize. He said security let a man onto the property a week ago who stated he had authorization to repair the flagpole. The manager told police it’s a new scam he’s heard about. Police left a message for the number listed on the invoice and haven’t heard back.

CODE TRUMPS CONSTRUCTION
7:39 a.m. — 500 block of Ranger Lane
Code Enforcement: Police informed a carpentry crew that it couldn’t make construction noise prior to 8 a.m., per the town’s noise ordinance.

PEACEFUL TERMINATION
8:41 a.m. — 3000 block of Grand Bay Boulevard
Public Service: Police stood by at a condominium property manager’s request while a security guard was fired. He left the property with his belongings without causing problems.

REST STOP
12:57 p.m. — 5100 block of GMD
Animal Rescue: Police responded to a report of an injured manatee and saw a manatee 200 feet from shore with a large group of people gathered around it in the water. Police told the group to move away from the manatee, and Mote Marine officials were called to the scene. They advised the manatee was just resting.

JUNE 27

CLEAR-CUT CASE
11:33 a.m. — 500 block of Russell Street
Larceny: A woman told police she thinks a lawn maintenance man stole the knife she let him use to trim her Birds of Paradise plant. The man denied stealing the knife and told police he even helped her look for the knife.

TRASH TROUBLE
12:26 p.m. — 10 block of Winslow Place
Code Enforcement: A woman was informed a town ordinance prevents her from leaving her trash cans in the right of way on any days other than garbage pickup days.

NO NOISE
3:53 p.m. — Off the Key
Noise Disturbance: A resident called in a noise complaint about boats off Jewfish Key, and marine patrol responded. No loud noises or music were observed in the area.

WALLET RECOVERY
4:45 p.m. — 400 block of GMD
Found Property: Police retrieved  a brown wallet with $20 in cash inside that a customer left behind. The customer called the station later and retrieved his wallet.

JUNE 28

A SECOND WIND
12:23 p.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road
Alarm: Police responded to an alarm and reset it. Forty minutes later the alarm went off again and asked a key holder to unlock the home. Police secured an unlocked master bedroom exterior door that the wind was opening and closing.

JUNE 29

FISH FAIL
8:38 a.m. — 800 block of Broadway
Suspicious Circumstance: A resident fishing on the town dock in Longbeach Village told police that for the last three mornings, he has observed two men illegally spearfishing snook. He couldn’t provide an accurate description of their vehicles.

SOUND THE ALARM
9:51 a.m. — 600 block of Putter Lane
Alarm: Police responded to a house alarm and found two unlocked garage doors. Nothing was disturbed and the home was secured.

JUNE 30

DOWN THE DRAIN
12:03 a.m. — 2600 block of GMD
Disturbance: Police arrived to a noise complaint and hear loud music and loud voices coming from a resort unit. A young man answered the door and told police he was having a party with six other people in the unit his grandmother rented. There was alcohol present, and police made them pour it out in their presence.
