JULY 1

NO CAN DO

12:13 p.m. — Greer Island

Beverage Violation: While on foot patrol of Greer Island, also known as Beer Can Island, an officer observed a woman in possession of a beer. The officer advised the woman that she was in violation of the town’s ordinance that prohibits the possession of alcohol on the beach. The officer asked the woman to gather her belongings and leave the beach.

 

DAD, IT’S JUST ME!

12:16 p.m. — 7300 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Suspicious Vehicle: An officer responded to a report from a resident who said a suspicious vehicle was parked in his yard. Upon arrival, the resident said he identified the car as belonging to a member of his family. The resident said he had planned to call the police back to cancel the report.

 

JULY 3

RUNAWAY SKIFF

1:00 p.m. — Off the Key, Bay, Sector 7

Unsecured Boat: A marine unit officer assisted a man in retrieving a skiff that drifted from his vessel. The man explained that his grandfather, who was also staying onboard, has a tendency to check and retie knots on the vessel throughout the day. In doing so, the man said his grandfather apparently did not secure the skiff. The officer found the skiff drifting in the channel with its owner swimming after it.

 

INDEPENDENCE DAY MYSTERY

11:11 p.m. — 4300 block of GMD

Disturbance: An officer responded to a noise complaint of people launching fireworks on the beach. The officer checked the area and did not see anyone on the beach or hear any noise. The caller did not wish to be contacted.
