May 1
Off the hook
7:15 a.m. — 6600 block of GMD.
Fishing. A caller reported two men were fishing for snook out of season. The men were actually fishing for legal-size trout.

Anyone there?
7:49 a.m. — 500 block of De Narvaez Drive. A man’s daughter was getting ready for work and heard footsteps at the door. Her dogs acted like someone was at the door. She called her father, who checked the area, but he couldn’t find anyone.

May 2
Can I get a ride?
10:06 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway.
Traffic. A woman called police because her car broke down in a parking lot. Police drove her to her condominium to pick up her other vehicle.

Barking back
10:53 p.m. — 700 block of Dream Island Road. Animal Nuisance. A man complained that his neighbor’s dogs were barking. Police had been to the home multiple times for similar complaints. The dogs’ owner told police she lets them outside before bedtime and that the dogs bark occasionally at critters in the yard.

May 3
Double don’t
12:50 a.m. — 7100 block of GMD.
Trespassing. A caller reported cars were parked after hours on private property that possibly belonged to people on the beach. Police found seven people with a small pit fire burning and warned them about town ordinances that prohibit open fires and being on the beach after 11 p.m.

Better safe than sorry
10:56 a.m. — Linley Street. Boat Violation. Police conducted a boating safety check and found the boater only had one fire extinguisher on board and didn’t have a copy of U.S. Coast Guard navigational rules. Police issued written warnings for the violations.

Every dog won't have its day
3:38 p.m. — 3800 block of GMD. Dog on the Beach. A man who was playing with his dog on the beach said he wasn’t aware of the town’s ordinance and said he would take the dog home.

Taken out with the trash
4:39 p.m. — 500 block of Birdie Lane. Missing Property. A man reported that his trashcan was stolen and needed a police report to get a new one.

Over the limit?
8:45 p.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Longboat Club Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman followed a man out of town limits to give police information about his whereabouts. She believed he was driving while intoxicated with two young children in the car. Longboat police followed the vehicle and relayed the case to Sarasota police.

Making some noise
9:25 p.m. — 5900 block of GMD. Disturbance. A man called police because a neighbor’s pump was being noisy, making it difficult for him to sleep. Dispatch was unable to contact the homeowner, key holder or construction company.

Property right
2:12 p.m. — 1600 block of GMD. Parking. Police found the registered owner of a car parked at the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort. The man called the longtime Colony owner, who confirmed that the man is allowed on the property.

May 5
Camp Longboat
7:49 a.m. — 100 block of N. Shore Road.
Camping. Police found four teens camping in tents on Beer Can Island and called their parents. The teens removed their tents and other belongings before leaving the area.
