11:29 a.m. – Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Bay Isles Road
Suspicious Person: Police saw a man with a green bicycle leave the driveway of an abandoned home. He told police he lives in Cortez and was looking for a house to rent. The house had no signs of forced entry, and a search of his backpack revealed nothing suspicious.

FINDER FAIL
2:30 p.m. — 300 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive
Lost Property: A woman told police she lost her cellphone and a "Find My Phone" app showed the phone was located on Bayport Way. Police checked the area and the grounds and couldn't find the phone. A manager told police that units where the phone was supposed to be were vacant.

JUNE 2

STOLEN DANCE
6:34 p.m. — 3000 block of Harbourside Drive
Lost Property: A woman told police her daughter left her iPhone on a table while she danced at a Harbourside clubhouse party. When she returned to the table, her phone was gone.

KITCHEN IS CLOSED
11:36 p.m. — 700 block of Broadway
Security Check: Police found the patio door to a restaurant kitchen open during a security check. The manager arrived to lock the door.

JUNE 4

MOVE OUT AND ON
3:15 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD
Disturbance: A woman told police she has evidence that her roommate lied to hospital staff about her condition when she was admitted in April. She also said her roommate is a thief who has stolen personal items from the condo and her identity through the use of her credit cards. She said he’s also leaving bug spray near her food and purposefully washing her clothes with a detergent that irritates her skin. She said she can’t kick him out because they own the residence together. Police advised her to continue speaking with her attorney to resolve the issues and sell the property.

CAN I GET A RIDE?
4:53 p.m. — 201 GMD
Public Service: A man told police he got into an argument with his girlfriend in Sarasota and decided to walk back to his boat on Longboat Key. He got tired after crossing New Pass Bridge and stopped at the gas station to call police and ask for a ride home.

JUNE 6

DAY DRINKING
3:13 a.m. — 5500 block of GMD
Suspicious Vehicle: A man told police he fell asleep in his car while waiting for friends to meet him and take him to a get-together at a Key condominium. He admitted to drinking earlier in the day and agreed to take a cab home.

SPEED RACER
7:10 p.m. — Off the Key
Boat: Marine patrol received a complaint of a fishing boat operating at too high a speed along the shore near swimmers at the Atlas Street beach access. Police located a blue boat, which dispatch confirmed was the boat in question. The man told police he always stayed more than 300 feet from the beach and was traveling under 15 mph because he was tarpon fishing. He was advised to operate his boat safely.

JUNE 7

SLEEP IT OFF
1:45 a.m. — 100 block of Broadway
Code Enforcement: Police saw two vehicles parked at the beach access after hours. A man got defensive when he was asked what he was doing there with his intoxicated girlfriend after hours. The man drove his sleeping girlfriend home and left her red pickup truck there for the night.

BUY THE INSURANCE
7:04 p.m. — 5000 block of GMD
Property Damage: A man reported that a tree branch fell and struck his rental car, causing an estimated $4,000 in damage to the hood, bumper and headlight assembly.

JUNE 8

LOCKDOWN PROBLEM
2:33 a.m. – 5300 block of GMD
Security Check: Police found the front door of a restaurant unlocked and left messages for the owners because they couldn’t lock it.

JUNE 9

POWER WHEELS
1:06 p.m. — 500 block of Wedge Lane
Public Service: Longboat Key Fire Rescue reported a truck that touched the power lines while dumping a load of sand. The power lines became arced in the truck and the power company arrived to lift the power lines above the truck.

CHECKS AND BALANCES
7:30 p.m. — 2100 block of GMD
Found Property: A woman found a checkbook in the grass while walking her dog. Police located the owner of the checkbook in Country Club Shores.
