Rescue effort

10:49 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road. Animal. A man found a kitten lying in the grass after someone apparently ran it over. A woman wrapped the kitten in a towel and took it to a veterinarian’s office, but it did not survive.

Mistaken identity
11:52 a.m. — 6600 block of GMD. Domestic Disturbance. A woman told police she and her husband got into an argument, and she is also upset with the painters because they are not doing the work they were hired to do. Her husband said he was the only other person at the home, and his wife suffers from dementia. She continues to think he is a hired painter.

Criminal consolation prize
9:54 p.m. — 800 block of Spanish Drive S. Larceny From Vehicle. A man placed an envelope with $1,319 cash and his and his wife’s passports in the center console of his car. He closed the lid but left the doors and windows of the car open. The wife, who did not know he left the cash and passports there, found the door to the center console open and asked her husband about it. The man assumes someone stole it while they were at the pool earlier.

Don’t come around here no more

10:51 p.m. — 6900 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman noticed a vehicle parked with its lights on when she returned and got scared when the driver pulled into her driveway behind her. She locked her car doors and started backing out of the driveway while honking the horn. The driver left, and police were unable to find the vehicle.

Safe return

9:26 p.m. — 4200 block of GMD. Welfare Check. A man asked police to check on his mother. Police found several lights on and a small dog in a bedroom. The son also came to the unit and said that his mother’s neighbor’s car was not in the lot and that they possibly went out together. He said he would leave a message for his mother to call him when she returned. Police checked back later and found the lights had been turned off.

Home away from home

11:17 a.m. — 6000 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman discovered that an unknown person has been staying at her home without her permission. The house is under construction, and several individuals had keys and entry codes for the alarm system. She found beds that have been slept in and open wine bottles, and her housekeeper discovered several doors unlocked. She is changing the locks and alarm codes.
