June 15
Riding out the storm
5:34 p.m. — 100 block of GMD.
Missing Person. A woman reported that three people rented paddleboards from her Sarasota company and hadn’t returned, causing her to worry that they had encountered bad weather. The group returned while police checked nearby shorelines. One of the women said that her father, who was out on his boat, gave them a ride back.

June 16
Want it in writing
3:01 a.m. — 4600 block of GMD.
Disturbance. A resort manager and security guard reported that a guest had friends visiting, who were being unruly on the beach until the early morning hours. The visitors left after the manager asked them to, but the manager wanted the incident documented.

GIant leap
3:17 p.m. — Off the Key. Juvenile. Police warned a teen seen jumping off of Longboat Pass Bridge to Beer Can Island and also warned a group of approximately eight others against jumping.

June 17
That will get you nowhere
9:05 a.m. — 400 block of North Shore Road.
Property Found. A man found a bicycle with two flat tires at an intersection. A Public Works employee picked up the bike and delivered it to the police station.

Sleeping it off
5:57 p.m. — 400 block of GMD. Public Service. Police found a man asleep at the driver’s seat of his vehicle, which had the engine running. The man said that he was eating at a restaurant, drank two beers and pulled into a parking spot to rest when he began feeling tired during the drive home. The man showed no signs of intoxication and called his roommate to drive him and his car home.

June 18
Snapped up
10:18 a.m. — Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Gulf Bay Road.
Property Found. A Public Works employee turned in a small silver camera he found.

June 19
If your friend jumped off of a groin ...
4:50 p.m. — 2200 block of GMD.
Disturbance. Two men got into an argument and shouted obscenities at each other after a disagreement about one man’s friend jumping into the Gulf from a groin. Both parties agreed to stay away from each other.
