Trespassing: A construction supervisor reported to police he found women’s underwear, beer bottles and cigarette butts at the property where Longboat Key Builders was working. No damage or stolen property was reported. The property was processed for fingerprints. The investigation is ongoing.

False alarm: An activated fire alarm drew a Longboat Key Fire & Rescue unit along with a Longboat Key Police Department officer. LBKFR reported the alarm was possibly weather-related.

SHOUTING WORKOUT
10:22 a.m. – 3050 Grand Bay Boulevard
Civil disturbance: A 71-year-old man and a 62-year-old man were working out in the weight room when an argument over control of the TV and its volume grew loud enough to attract police attention. The men argued face to face but there was no physical contact, according to a witness. It was the second time in five days an argument between the two men, police reported. They were advised to workout at different times or “more stringent measures would be taken to ensure the peace was not breached,” according to the report.
OPEN DOOR MYSTERY
12:59 p.m. – 50 Lighthouse Point Drive
Suspicious circumstance: A homeowner reported she drove up to her residence and the front door was open when it should have been closed and locked. The residence appeared in order with nothing missing, the responding officer reported. No tampering with the door latch was detected nor was there evidence anyone had entered.
WRONG WAY
10:25 p.m. – 6531 GMD, Rolling Waves property
Trespassing: A complainant reported to police she warned two men Rolling Waves was private property and they should not use it to access the beach. The men continued walking to the beach. They later returned the same way and reportedly then walked into the Laguna Drive gated community. The men were warned by police not to trespass again.

CHAIN SAW JOB
6:55 a.m. – 2162 GMD, Longboat Key Fire Department
Highway obstruction: A large tree fell across the roadway across from station 2 blocking the southbound lane. Firefighters removed the tree “quickly” while working with chain saws as Sgt. Jeff Morningstar of the Longboat Key Fire Department directed traffic around the obstruction.
HURRICANE SCUFF
4:16 P.M. – Publix, 525 Bay Isles Parkway
Property damage: A Bradenton woman reported a juvenile passenger in a green 2005 Ford F-150 had scuffed the paint on her white 2012 Ford Explorer SUV. The driver of the truck told police wind blew the door out of the hand of his passenger. Police reported the green-paint transfer occurred while the island was experiencing higher wind speeds from Hurricane Hermine. The subjects exchanged information.

Animal rescue: A baby sea turtle was found in a parking lot and placed in a bucket of moist sand until Mote Marine rescuers picked it up in 48 minutes.
BOATING DEBATE
11:44 a.m. – 899 Broadway off Town dock
Disturbance: Three fishermen reported to police a boat tried to dock while they were casting lines at the fishing dock. They said they told the boater it’s a fishing dock, not a boat dock, and the boat left. Case closed.
STORMY ROMANCE
10:41 p.m. – 1135 GMD
Disturbance: A 77-year-old man from Lebanon, Tenn., reported he broke up with a 48-year-old woman from Bradenton after an argument on the beach. As she was picking up her belongings from his residence, she reportedly threatened to tell police he was assaulting her. He called police. They did not find the woman when they arrived nor did they find any signs of a physical altercation. Case closed.
JEW FISH KEY PARTY
5:13 p.m. – Sector 7 of the longboat Key Bay
Miscellaneous: Police reportedly found a drunken 27-year-old Bradenton woman alone on a Jew Fish Key sandbar. Police reported she confessed to having been drinking heavily and she had slurred speech, was stumbling and had red eyes. Police found her 61-year-old father from Bradenton in his Carolina skiff on the water and he immediately pulled anchor and picked his daughter up. There were no injuries or damaged property. Police reported no laws were broken.

RAMP HOSTILITIES
2:52 p.m. – Publix, 507 Bay Isles Parkway
Disturbance: A 60-year-old driver of a Plymouth Harbor handicap bus reported the 91-year-old driver of a blue Cadillac drove over the rear portion of the ramp as he was unloading passengers. No damage or injuries noted by responding officer. Case closed.
