July 27

Night Light
12:38 p.m. — 600 block of Bowsprit Lane
Boat: Residents reported that a barge was anchored near the shore without any lights on. The callers were concerned another vessel might strike the tugboat. Police asked the owner of the boat, named Miss Ashley, to make sure employees turned lights on at night.

Shoes fly, don’t bother me
4:12 p.m. — Longboat Pass Bridge
Suspicious Circumstance: A driver called police to report that a teenager wearing a pink and white bathing suit tossed a toddler over the side of a bridge. Officers arrived immediately and began searching the waterway and questioning witnesses. Bystanders said they saw someone throw a pair of shoes off the bridge, and officers from several jurisdictions were unable to locate anything suspicious.

July 29

Authorized entrance
2:02 p.m. — 500 block of Golf Links Lane
Alarm: Police called a homeowner in response to an alarm that had been triggered, and she said there should not be anyone at her residence. When officers arrived, they found a contractor working on an air-conditioning unit. The woman then told officers she forgot that she would have someone working at the home.

July 31

Usual Suspects
10:52 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD
Disturbance: Police arrived at the beach in response to a couple engaged in a verbal argument. Officers separated the pair and asked if any physical violence occurred. Both said no, but the woman said the couple often have the cops called on them. The couple left the island in a silver Camaro.

Aug. 1

Escalating the situation
5:26 p.m. — 5200 block of GMD
Battery: A man confronted another man who was urinating in bushes in front of his family. A woman who was with the alleged urinator then began yelling at the man’s wife, then approached the family and bit the wife on her breast. Officers arrived and observed a bruise on the woman’s chest. The man said he didn’t witness the battery to his wife because he was trying to get the man to stop urinating in front of his kids. The family declined to press charges but wanted the situation documented.

Gone Fishin’
10:52 p.m. — 500 block of Halyard Lane
Trespassing: An officer responded to a trespassing call and found four teenagers fishing behind an empty lot. The teens left after police checked the group for warrants.

Aug. 2

Keeping an eye out
2:51 p.m. — 2400 block of Harbourside Drive
Suspicious Vehicle: A woman told police she noticed an unknown Hummer pull into an open garage. She thought there were two people inside, but was unsure due to tinted windows. She told officers when she approached the vehicle, the motorist drove away.
