Aug. 15
Off the hook
9:59 a.m. — 700 block of Hideaway Bay Drive.
Miscellaneous Boat. A man complained that a charter fisherman was fishing around his dock, which he felt was an invasion of his property. The fisherman was off the hook, because police found that he wasn’t violating any laws.

Aug. 20
Catch his drift?
11:03 a.m. — 6200 block of GMD.
Unsecured Boat. A sailboat broke free from its anchorage in Bradenton and drifted near the dock of a Key home before becoming stuck because of the tide level. The owner said he would move the boat and use additional anchors to keep it in place.

Aug. 21
High Life crimes
4:48 p.m. — 100 block of GMD.
Beverage Violation. Two women were drinking Miller Lite beers on a park bench and told police they didn’t see a sign prohibiting alcoholic beverages in the park. Police issued written warnings to both women and told them to pour out their drinks and throw them away.

Aug. 22
Mistaken identity
6:15 p.m. — 1600 block of Harbor Cay Lane.
Public Service. A woman found a small aluminum powerboat attached to her dock. An employee of the company that owns the boat said that a crew was trimming mangroves nearby and had permission to use the dock at a neighboring residence but most likely mixed up the docks.

Disappearing dialer
11:49 p.m. — 5400 block of Sandhamn Place.
Abandoned 911 Call. Police responded to an abandoned 911 call but were unable to locate anyone inside the residence.


Aug. 23
Get moving
1:16 p.m. — 3000 block of Harbourside Drive.
Parking Violation. A resident reported that a dump truck and trailer had been parked in the same location for a week. The owner of the vehicles told police that his company had been contracted to rebuild the concrete storm drains and manhole foundations that belong to the homeowners association and that a property management company that has now closed facilitated the contract. He agreed to move the vehicles.

Domestic Disturbance. Subject alleged her husband struck her with a moon pie from a gas station. Subject’s boss told him to leave.

May 5, 2001
Gun control
12:05 p.m. 500 block of Tarawitt Drive.
Disturbance. Subject wants police to hold her two handguns until she is through with her divorce.
