Suspicious Incidents: The reporting party called on bah elf of his spouse, who received a call from an officer at the sheriff’s office. He allegedly told the spouse there was a warrant for her arrest for failure to report for jury duty. She told the officer she never received any summons for jury duty. He told her the warrant could be cleared up if she went to Winn-Dixie and purchased ‘reload it’ cards with $5,500 on them. The wife was very distraught by the call. 

Lockwood Ridge Road

Information Only: The deputy responded to an animal complaint at the location. Upon investigation, the officer determined no crime had occurred.

Aug. 7
Intersection of 53rd Avenue East and Lockwood Ridge Road.
Information Only: The deputy saw the driver of the vehicle resembled the description of the owner. The return showed that the registered owner of the vehicle has a suspended driver’s license. Based on the information, the officer conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Lockwood Ridge Road and State Road 70. As he approached the vehicle, he called to the driver by his first name, to which the driver responded, “Yes.” The deputy asked the driver for his license, registration and proof of insurance and then issued him a note to appear and seized the vehicle’s license plate.

County Road 675

Aug. 8

Driving While License Suspended: A white pickup was traveling eastbound in the westbound lane of State Road 64 and caused two vehicles to leave the roadway to avoid collision. Deputies stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver for driving with a suspended license for the third time and transported the driver to jail without incident.

Misty Wood Avenue

Aug. 14

Criminal Mischief Property Damage: The victim reported that while his son was hog hunting behind Ranch Lake Apartments, his vehicle’s right rear tire was punctured with an unknown sharp object. The puncture damaged the tire, leaving it deflated. The victim’s son noticed the damage upon returning to the parked vehicle. He was advised by nearby county workers that an unknown white male was seen near his vehicle and, when spotted, he left the area in a silver pickup truck. The victim could not provide any information on the county workers and gave a brief description on the subject.

53rd Avenue East

Aug. 15
2900 block of 53rd Avenue East. 
Petit Theft, First Offense: Loss prevention advised the deputy that the subject had entered the store and proceeded to the electronics department, where he selected a micro cable. He then went to the toy department, where he removed the packaging and concealed the item in his pants. He then went to the automotive department and selected vehicle wax and concealed the bottle in his pants. He then exited the store through the Garden Center, passing all points of sale. Loss prevention stopped him outside the store and recovered the items, valued at $19.35.  The subject was placed under arrest upon the deputy’s arrival and transported to jail.
