Sept. 19
Too good to be true
1:52 p.m. — 11300 block of 78th Street East. Suspicious Circumstance. A man told police he applied for a job as a shipping manager online and provided all his personal information via email. Once he got the job, he was shipped packages to his home and was in charge of re-shipping packages to assigned addresses. After shipping five packages and never getting paid, he pulled his credit report and was alerted someone took out a credit card in his name to buy a $600 laptop computer.

Sept. 21
Diaper dash
8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Shoplifting. A store manager told police a woman fled his store with two boxes of diapers. Police said the woman has been stealing diapers from other stores throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties.

Sept. 22
Family fight
8:19 p.m. — 7700 block of 38th Court East. Domestic Disturbance. A woman told police that she and her mother got into a fight that escalated when her mother began throwing silverware at her. No cuts or bruises were observed.

Sept. 23
Truck trouble
7:01 a.m. — 3900 block of 77th Place East. Vehicle Theft. A man reported that his $20,000 truck was missing from his driveway when he woke up. He has no idea who might have stolen it.

We’ll leave the lights on
11:40 p.m. — 600 block of 67th Street Circle East. Possession of a Controlled Substance. Police observed a woman passed out in the driver’s seat of a parked car with the engine running and lights on in a motel parking lot. A glass pipe and a bottle of crack cocaine were found in her car, and she was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

Sept. 24
credit fraud
11:10 a.m. — 7300 block of 52nd Place East. Fraud. Someone used a man’s credit card to do some home remodeling, racking up $657 at a home improvement store and used his card 10 more times that day to take cash out of his account.

Storm shatter
11:41 a.m. — 6500 block of Waters Edge Way. Suspicious Circumstance. A homeowner reported he came home to find a back sliding glass door shattered into pieces near his pool area. Police believe a strong storm in the area earlier that day attributed to the glass door’s demise.

Locker loot
2:27 p.m. — 8500 block of Cooper Creek Boulevard. Theft. A man told police someone stole his wallet from his gym locker while he was working out.

Sept. 25
Wrong kind of party
4:48 p.m. — 5100 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Suspicious Circumstance. The director of the YMCA reported that juveniles were outside drinking alcohol. When police arrived, most of the suspects had left. The director introduced police to two juveniles inside the center who came inside after drinking. They agreed to breathalyzer tests and one of the tests came back positive. The director made plans to contact parents.

Family trouble
5:13 p.m. — 25200 block of State Road 64 East. Criminal mischief. A man told police he believes his brother-in-law was responsible for damaging his vehicle outside of his house because the in-law doesn’t believe he’s good enough for his sister.
