The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

CREEKWOOD
Nov. 23
10:45 a.m. — 7400 block of 49th Avenue E.
Burglary to an unoccupied conveyance. Unknown persons entered the complainant’s unlocked vehicle and took the GPS unit that was inside.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
Reported Nov. 23
12:46 p.m. — 8300 block of Market Street. 
Burglary to an unoccupied conveyance. The victim reported an unknown suspect stole his wallet and handicap placard from his vehicle.

MYAKKA CITY
Nov. 26
9:30 p.m. — 10300 block of Myakka Boulevard. 
Grand theft. While the victim was visiting a friend’s house, an unknown person(s) removed several items from inside his vehicle. Several persons were in and out of the vehicle, and the victim didn’t see anyone remove the items. The vehicle wasn’t processed because the victim knew the suspects, and the suspects had been in the vehicle with the victim’s permission.

OTHER
Nov. 22
3:08 a.m. — 800 block of Morgan Johnson Road. 
MCSO vehicle crash with minor injuries. Dep. Andrew Grana was traveling north on Morgan Johnson Road when he attempted to avoid an opossum in the middle of the road. Grana swerved to the left, then over corrected on a wet road. He lost control of his patrol car and went into a ditch striking a cement culvert with the front of his vehicle, causing his airbag to deploy. The back of the vehicle then struck a wooden fence, causing damage to the driver side rear quarter panel. The patrol car sustained about $8,000 in damage and had to be towed from the scene. The damage to the fence was about $450. Grana sustained minor injuries and was taken to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center for treatment.

Nov. 25
3 a.m. — 6200 block of State Road 64 East. Criminal mischief. The complainant reported she borrowed the victim’s truck to go shopping, and an unknown person keyed the driver’s side from the headlight through the rear driver’s side door, causing paint damage, while it was parked.

12:53 p.m. — 2900 block of 53rd Avenue East. Petit theft. The victim reported an unknown person(s) stole his cell phone. He stated he proceeded to check out at the register and left his cell phone on the checkout counter and left the building. When he went back inside the store to retrieve his cell phone, he couldn’t find it. The unknown clerk told the victim she had not seen the cell phone. The cell phone was shut off and listed as stolen in T-Mobile’s database. The total value of the stolen property is $200.

Nov. 26
4:59 p.m. — 5300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Retail theft. The complainant reported one of her cashiers observed a white male subject exiting the store with an 18-pack of beer without paying for the merchandise. After being reported to the manager, a video was reviewed and revealed the subject entered the store, walked around the store and picked up the beer. He then walked down another isle and exited the store without paying for the beer. The subject was observed riding his bike past the front door. The complainant stated the subject is a frequent customer; but he always pays with cash, so they don’t have any identifying information on him. Photos of still video images of the subject were taken and placed into the MSO photo lab. The complainant also will provide MSO with a copy of the video. The total value of the stolen merchandise was $13.49.
