The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

March 7
Nice try
1:04 p.m. — 6000 block of State Road 70 East.
Uttering forged check. The defendant entered the bank and attempted to cash a $998 check.

Reported March 8
Crime of opportunity
7:59 p.m. — 1100 block of Faith Circle East.
Larceny petit theft first offense. The victim stated an unknown person, who had been invited into her home, stole money out of her purse before fleeing in an unknown direction. The victim stated the person of interest had regular access to her purse, but she didn’t see him remove anything from her purse. The victim was given a case number and a victim’s rights brochure.

March 9
Just looking
2 a.m. — 14800 block of Seventh Avenue East.
Unarmed burglary to a conveyance with person inside. An unknown person(s) entered the rear-screened lanai and opened a cabinet. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction. Nothing appeared to have been taken.

Help yourself
7:30 a.m. — 8700 block of 52nd Drive East. Burglary of an unoccupied dwelling. Unknown suspect(s) entered the residence without using any force. While inside, the suspect(s) stole several items. The suspect(s) then fled the scene.

Reported March 9
That’s not me!
8:03 a.m. — 2600 block of 65th Street East.
Fraudulent use/possession of another’s ID without consent. The victim reported his information was fraudulently used to obtain his tax return.

Free to good home
10:04 a.m. — 8100 block of 45th Court East. Found property. The responding deputy arrived in reference to some discarded pool furniture, clothes and toys that were found near the complex entrance. It couldn’t be determined whether it was related to a theft that had been reported the night before in which a male had stacked pool furniture and then fled. The suspect was arrested later. All of the items were placed into property. The complainant had called area complexes inquiring to see if the discarded furniture belonged to them. This was met with negative results.

March 10
Throwing stones
7:54 p.m. — 11000 block of Winding Stream Way.
Unarmed burglary to a structure. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s unlocked pool screen enclosure. While inside the enclosure, the person(s) threw a rock through a patio door. The rock broke the glass. The person(s) then entered the house before fleeing in an unknown direction of travel. The victim didn’t see the suspect(s) and doesn’t know of anyone who might try to damage his property.
