The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

April 27
Time crime
3 p.m. — 6700 block of Peach Tree Creek Road
. Burglary to an unoccupied dwelling. Unknown suspect(s) pried open the rear lanai screen door and entered the victim’s lanai. Once inside, the suspect(s) pried open the sliding glass door and entered the residence. The suspect(s) then ransacked the closets and dressers. The suspect(s) took two watches from the victim’s bedroom. The scene was processed for prints.

May 2
Bold moves
2:38 p.m. — 7300 block of 52nd Place East
. Petty grand theft. The defendant entered the store without merchandise in his hands. Loss-prevention officers had prior knowledge of the defendant and followed him. The officers observed the defendant take the property and put in his pants pockets. He then passed all points of sale without paying for the items. Once outside, officers confronted the defendant. He resisted and was taken down by two other employees and a citizen. Nobody was injured. The property, valued at $85.63 was still on the defendant.

May 7
Anger management
3:12 p.m. — 6215 River Club Boulevard.
Assault on school board employee. The juvenile defendant was defiant, refusing to sit in his assigned seat and put his backpack away. After an attempt to calm him down by his teacher, the juvenile quietly but audibly said he was going to punch him. At dismissal, he punched his desk five times and said, “That’s what I’m going to do to you.” He then left the class. He was suspended from school. The teacher didn’t want to press charges.

Tune trouble
11:07 a.m. — 6600 block of Pirate Perch Trail
. Unarmed burglary to a structure. The suspect was doing yard work for the complainant, and they had an agreement that he would pay the complainant $500 for a stereo. The suspect hasn’t paid for the stereo and refused to return the complainant’s calls. The complainant contacted the suspect’s father and asked when he was going to pay for the stereo or return it.
