The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

July 19
Does that answer the question?
8:27 a.m. — 2800 block of University Parkway.
 Trespass Warning. A deputy found a man passed out near a pay phone. He couldn’t answer basic questions about the time, where he was or how he got there and blankly stared when asked if he had taken drugs or narcotics. The man had a prescribed bottle of generic Xanax that had been filled the day before and had 11 pills missing. The deputy found a chewing tobacco can with two Valiums, a cut straw and razor blade about 10 feet away from him. He was transported to a hospital.

The cows stay home
11:57 a.m. — 21000 block of S.R. 70 East. Criminal Mischief. An unknown person entered a 100-acre property containing 14 cows by cutting a barbed wire fence. None of the cows escaped.

July 22
Religious right
8:58 a.m. — 5600 block of Avista Drive.
Missing Person. An 87-year-old was reported missing after he got upset with his caregiver and left the residence. He was found at a friend’s house and said that he only wanted to go to church.

Hit men
1:32 p.m. — 7100 block of Marston Court. Information Only. A woman came to the Sheriff’s Office and said that a male neighbor has hired several hit men to kill her. She said the men had been disguised as a pizza-delivery man, a doorbell fixer and movers. She also reported hearing unknown males around the neighborhood in dark-tinted vehicles talking about staging an armed robbery during which they would kill her. A deputy was unable to obtain information about any of the hit men involved.

Love hurts
5 p.m. — 2700 block of 26th Avenue East. Battery. An 18-year-old woman told deputies that her ex-boyfriend pushed her out of his vehicle and drove off after they began fighting with each other while stopped at an intersection.

July 24
Cell out
12:10 a.m. — 200 block of Cape Harbour Loop. 
Battery. A woman told deputies that her daughter shoved her finger in her face, kicked her in the leg and screamed “Make me, *$#!@,” after she told her to leave. The woman said that her daughter was angry because she pawned her own cell phone and wanted her mother to buy it back.

July 20
Baker Act
5:53 a.m. — 6300 block of Golden Eye Glenn.
Baker Act. Deputies tasered a man who threatened to kill himself by cutting his wrist with a steak knife and overdosing on medications. The man said he was depressed because he owes money to the IRS and recently got his car towed. The man was admitted to a hospital under the Baker Act.

July 26
Pound puppy
12:01 p.m. — 8200 block of 60th Street Circle East. 
Theft. A woman said that her roommate took her 3-month-old puppy, Mya, to the pound without her permission.

Money talks
3:43 p.m. — 8300 block of Tourist Center Drive. Information Only. A woman contacted the Sheriff’s Office after an ex-family friend came into her place of employment, called her an explicit name and said that she owed her money and that she “knows people.” The woman said that her mother has been storing some of the ex-friend’s belongings but didn’t know why she was harassing her.
