Dec. 8
Gold standard
12:10 p.m. — 2500 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD
). Lost Property. A woman reported that she lost her gold cloth wallet in Sarasota. The wallet contained her driver’s license and various credit cards.

Dec. 9
Rooftop recovery
12:03 p.m. — 700 block of Gulf Bay Road
. Found Property. A Public Works Department employee found a wallet on top of a car parked at the end of Gulf Bay Road. A note was left on the car that the wallet had been found. The wallet’s owner was believed to be kayaking.

Scrap that
4:30 p.m. — 1600 block of GMD
. Field Investigation. Police observed a suspicious pickup truck hauling a bunch of scrap metal on the grounds of the closed Colony Beach & Tennis Resort. Suspicions were alleviated when it was discovered the resort was holding a liquidation sale.

Dec. 10
Lounge act
7:45 a.m. — 400 block of North Shore Road
. Suspicious Circumstance. A man told police he couldn’t find the cover of his gas grill. When he went looking for it, he discovered that a condominium storage room contained a pool lounge chair and that there was evidence of someone eating and sleeping there.

Dec. 11
Valid point
5:02 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and Bay Isles Road
. Traffic Violation. A white van was pulled over for driving 55 miles per hour on Gulf of Mexico Drive. It was discovered that the driver, as well as his entire construction crew, did not possess a valid driver’s license. The van was towed away after its owner was notified of the situation. Police were informed the van’s owner also didn’t possess a valid driver’s license.

Bait-and-switch
4:56 p.m. — 100 block of GMD
. Code Enforcement. Police noticed three boys were using empty beer bottles to fish. They had wrapped the fishing lines around the bottles. They agreed to remove the glass containers when they were done and not break them. Wrote the police officer in his report: “If I should encounter these juveniles again, I will get them fishing poles.”

Dec. 12
Holiday hootenanny
12:32 a.m. — 4000 block of GMD.
Noise Disturbance. An anonymous caller reported loud music, and police found a small group of people in a field having their annual Christmas celebration. They were advised to turn the music down, and they agreed to shut it off altogether.

1:57 p.m. — New Pass
. Assist Other Agency. Police were notified that a red Mustang ran into New Pass Bridge and left the scene of the accident. The Mustang was located in the parking garage of L’Ambiance, and the owner told police he planned on filing a report with the Sarasota Police Department. The man was not injured, but the car suffered extensive front-end damage.

Dec. 13
Up in the air
12:23 p.m. — 600 block of Halyard Lane
. Lost Property. A man told police he lost his wallet on a flight from Montreal to Atlanta.
