Dec. 30
Lesson learned
7:34 a.m. — 500 block of Spinnaker Lane
. Traffic Violation. Police pulled a man over for driving his car while having multiple suspensions on his record and not paying traffic fines. The man told police he knew he had some unpaid tickets but didn’t know his license was suspended. The man’s car was towed away.

That’s the ticket
10:41 a.m. — Intersection of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD) and Harbourside Drive
. Traffic Violation. A man told police he put a tag from a trailer he had sold onto his new trailer. He also admitted to driving with a suspended driver’s license and having an improper tag on his truck. The tags were confiscated, the trailer and truck were towed away, and multiple tickets were issued.

Construction creates confusion
10:57 a.m. — 100 block of Lighthouse Point Drive.
Property Damage. A woman told police that someone possibly broke into a home she was watching for its owners. Upon entering the home, the woman noticed the stereo was playing and a broken vase was lying in pieces on the kitchen floor. It was determined construction from a nearby home demolition caused the vase to vibrate and fall to the floor. It’s unknown how the construction caused the stereo to play.

Resolution revolt
8:18 p.m. — 4600 block of GMD
. Disturbance. Police helped mediate a lovers’ quarrel at a local resort. A woman told police she had a fight with her husband about getting the couple’s car keys so she could take the car and leave him on the Key. The husband unknowingly struck his wife with his arm while she was holding onto his shirt. The wife agreed to leave the Key and spend New Year’s Eve with other family members. Police gave her a ride back to the mainland.

Jan. 1
Fire starters
12:51 a.m. — 3800 block of GMD
. Code Enforcement. Police noticed a large group of people on the beach around a fire. Although the fire was contained in a pit, it was in violation of the town’s open-burning ordinance. The group, which was also drinking on the beach, agreed to distinguish the fire and leave.
