Scratch that
4:29 p.m. — 500 block of Juan Anasco Drive
. Soliciting. A woman told police she saw a woman selling magazines door-to-door. The woman, who told police she travels the country selling magazines, was told to scratch Longboat Key from her list.

Jan. 20
Shady guy
2:02 p.m. — Intersection of Broadway and Longboat Drive South
. Suspicious Person. A woman reported seeing a tall man wearing a baseball cap and sweatshirt emerge from some bushes. The man could not be located.

Jan. 21
Permission not granted
11:42 p.m. — 700 block of Broadway
. Suspicious Person. Two men, who were fishing for mullet on a restaurant dock after hours, agreed to leave after it couldn’t be verified that they had permission to use the dock.

Jan. 22
Not a sleepy little town
1:57 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD
. Code Enforcement. A woman found sleeping in her car at a beach-access point after hours was asked to leave.

Dock master
2:16 p.m. — 600 block of Hibiscus Way
. Boat Assistance. A couple reported that a pontoon boat drifted into their dock and got stuck underneath it. Strong winds appeared to have pushed the boat southbound and caused it to break away from its mooring spot near Linley Street. The owner arrived to remove the boat.

Watered down
8:10 p.m. — 5600 block of GMD
. Fire. Longboat Key Fire Rescue determined that a wire harness on a dishwasher caused the appliance to catch fire. The fire was extinguished.

9:49 a.m. — 500 block of Birdie Lane
. Civil Disturbance. A woman complained that a landscaping truck and trailer were blocking her driveway. Police told the woman there was adequate space for her to get out of her driveway.

Safe and sound
9:55 p.m. — 5600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD)
. Found Property. Police placed a set of keys found inside a convenience store into evidence for safekeeping.

Jan. 22
Office space secured
11:48 p.m. — 200 block of GMD
. Security Check. Police secured the south double door of a real-estate office.

Jan. 23
Lock down
12:51 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road
. Security Check. Police secured the west doors of Town Hall, which opened when pulled upon but locked from within when the doors were closed shut.

Jan. 24
Wheel steal
9:36 a.m. — 4200 block of GMD
. Larceny. A man reported that his bike was stolen from a covered parking area in his condominium parking lot.

Jan. 25
Determined beachgoers
11:06 a.m. — 1600 block of GMD.
Trespassing. A security guard called police to report two people trespassing on the property of a closed resort. The man had told the security guard he has walked through the property for years to get to the beach. Police could not locate the man and woman.
